21st century methodology helped establish this latest interchangeable No TearsTM system. This goggle in a sunglass concept provides incredible wind, sun, glare, and debris protection. This patent pending system utilizes Wiley X exclusive Ultra FoamTM seal to hug the inside of the ocular ridge, and work like a goggle but look like a pair of sunglass. Wiley X shatterproof polycarbonate meets ANSI Z87.1-2003 high velocity impact safety standards. Each shatterproof lens utilizes our T-ShellTM hard coat for scratch resistance, and SlickTM anti-fog coating, providing all weather, all terrain protection. Elastic, mini strap, attaches to the temples through T-PegTM docking securing the glasses, giving the ultimate fit. Wiley X' modular, convertible goggle designs tip even the most modern scales of innovation. These easy to convert frames are the preferred choice of countless military personnel. The frame provides a 90 degree wrap-back, eliminating tunnel vision. The Wiley X XL-1 comes with two sets of shatterproof lenses (clear and neutral slate). Each lens is hard coated for scratch resistance and anti-fog coated so it functions perfect in any environment where clear protected sight is needed.
Each frame is lined with Wiley X durable, rubberized "Ultra Foam" for a perfect facial seal. Wiley X Ultra Foam is designed so soldiers can customize based on environment. The Ultra Foam can be removed in segments to allow more ventilation in humid weather. Please Note: Ultra Foam cannot be replaced once removed.
Rubber tipped temples work in unison with our mini-elastic strap through T-Peg docking, keeping the frames firmly in place. The straps' Tri-Glide system adjusts the length for the perfect fit on any head size.
The Wiley X XL-1 can accommodate corrective lenses. Micro Fiber case is included for cleaning and storage. These lens meet ANIS Z87.1 Safety Standards, ANIS Z80.3 Optical Standards and MIL-STD-622 for Fragmentation.

 Great sunglasses for outdoors ! (skiing etc...) December 29, 2009

Previously had Wiley X B-2 sunglasses and loved them. 3 sets of lenses, lenses were easy to change......but i lost my lenses and needed to buy new sunglasses.
Bought XL-1 with adjusting lenses. Several things you might need to know before you purchase these....
1. I was VERY surprised to see that my XL-1s are made in Italy (at least thats what it says)
2. Light Adjusting Lenses (or Photochromic lenses) DO NOT work indoor or inside a car. Lenses are not sensitive to light, but to UV rays from sun (windows indoors or in car block UV rays). LA lenses are for outdoors only and they work pretty good (not great)
3. Lenses are not that easy to change like in my Wiley X B-2s
4. Sunglasses are pricey and I would not pay over $100 for them. (look for deals. I missed a deal on ebay for $65 and ended up paying $97 from a store.
5. Quality is good and overall I am satisfied. I cant wait to test them in real skiing conditions.

Wiley-X as a brand tends to slant their glasses in such a way that if you have higher wider cheekbones and a smaller flatter nose, the glasses will rest on your cheeks instead of where they properly should.
Wiley-X glasses are made to fit classic caucasian face structure with deep-set eyes, high nose, and narrower cheeks. Everyone else (eg, asians) be very careful buying this brand.
